WHO ARE WE?

Watauga Robotics is a student-led, organized, and funded organization working through Watauga High School in Boone, North Carolina. Every year we compete in the First Tech Challenge robotics competition held by FIRST, whose goal is to promote STEM advancement in youth around the world.

Our time in the beginning of the year, the competition season, is spent designing, building, and programming our robot for the competition task we are given and showing our new members what it is like to work in that kind of environment. With our small team and being self-funded, getting the work done is hard, but every season we put in that work to come out with a finished product and new experiences to learn from.

In the offseason, we focus on building the skills of our team members for our next season and help out at a number of community STEM endeavors like SumoBots and BuildFest to get younger kids interested in robotics. Watauga Robotics not only teaches STEM skills, but also provides high school students with the opportunity to be community leaders. Being a 100% student lead club we not only design, program, and build our robots, but our members must also learn to effectively organize, lead, and work together as a collective. And that's what we're all about.
